We have a highly qualified manager, currently Level 7, who has many years experience within an early years setting. Supporting her is a staff team with a variety of expertise and all are Level 3. All permanent staff are first aid trained and one member of staff is specifically trained as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. We constantly review the training needs of our staff and access training as needed; as a result all of our staff have attended courses and workshops relevant to the needs of the group.

Professional Links

As a group we are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance which keeps us aware of any new thinking in the field of childcare and education. We also receive monthly magazines offering practical advice and up-to-date information and have access to a wide range of professionally produced publications. We also have frequent meetings with other groups and professionals in the area to ensure high quality childcare and education. We are also happy to take work experience students as recommended by the Basingstoke Consortium or students on childcare courses from Basingstoke College of Technology and endeavour to provide an opportunity for at least one apprentice. We believe this benefits both the group and the children, bringing new experiences and keeping us up-to-date.

Key person

When a child joins our group a key person and co-key person will be assigned to them. This gives each child one special adult to relate to which can help make the settling-in process much easier. In addition, the key person is in a position to tailor the curriculum, planning and activities to the unique needs of the child. Essentially it means that at every staff meeting EVERY child has a voice. The key person will work with the family to keep a record of achievement/progress. Information will be collected about the child's needs, activities, interests and achievements to enable the key person to identify the child's stage of development and then provide support for the child to work towards the next stage. The key person is aiming to build a relationship with the child's family to ensure that the child is fully supported in reaching their full potential.
