The setting as a whole can take a maximum of 54 children in each session. There is a minimum staff to child ratio of 1:4 for under three's and 1:8 for the over three's although we endeavour to have a lower ratio of 1:6 for the over three's. Each room follows the nationally approved Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum providing interesting activities which are appropriate for the age and stage of development of each child. Using continuous and enhanced provision all of the foundation stage curriculum can be incorporated into play and using the early learning goals and stepping stones allows us to plan and provide a range of activities to help each child progress in each area of learning and development.Towards the end of each session the children are encouraged to help tidy-up followed by a time to join other children in their key workers group, this allows time to work on more focussed activities which have been chosen to suit their needs. There are many benefits to this not least it helps the relationship between the child and adult but also between the children themselves as the principal of teamwork is experienced.
